My hostel had 5 guests last night. My neighbors, their niece and the Versaws were all camped out. We had 2 air mattresses on the floor, Brad and Tania had my bed and I slept on the couch. All worked out well. Michelle and Adam arrived on Thursday afternoon about 5:30. After a few beverages I took them on a whirlwind tour of the canyon rim. We started at Mather Point, then to Yavapai and then to Canyon Village. Fortunately, they were able to get into Hopi House and Lookout Studio. Kolb Studio was closed but they intend to stop there today. We had a delicious dinner of appetizers in the bar at El Tovar and then back to Trailer Village. We were up at 4:30 for the sunrise at Yaki Point. Jessie, Tania's niece came along and loved the experience. She's from San Diego and has been on the road with her grandparents since the 4th of July. She's getting a little anxious to get home to see her boy friend (she's 17). I dropped the Versaws off at Bright Angel Trailhead at 6:00 AM for their hike into the canyon. They planned to go down a few miles and then hop on the bus to ride out to Hermit's Rest. After that I'm not sure what their plans are but they do intend to nap before the take off for Las Vegas and Adam's friend's wedding. Busy day and I will be struggling to keep awake this afternoon I'm sure. I enjoy doing my tour guide routine and visiting with friends. Dick will be in next Wednesday and then Sara and Jess will meet us on the North Rim on Saturday, August 1. Before you know it I'll be packing to come home!!!!
