Looking outside the library window I see blue sky and puffy white clouds...just like yesterday. They are calling for rain so we'll see. Actually, its not like the steam bath rain we get at home. Everything dries so quickly. The smell of the pine after the storms is so fragrant. Anyway, so much for the weather. I went out with some of the park staff last evening to wish some fellow rangers farewell. One is returning to Miami and then on to Everglades National Park, another is done for the season and the third is a 7th grade science teacher from Flagstaff who has been here with the Teacher Ranger Teacher Program like me. She and her husband are moving to Boseman, Montana so if anyone wants to teach in Flagstaff, Arizona and is certified in Science there's an opening!!! We rode into Tusayan on the park shuttle and had pizza at the lounge in the Best Western. It was very good but expensive which you can imagine in Tourist Trap, USA. This hotel had a huge game room and a bowling alley in addition to the swimming pool, tennis courts, spa, etc. Lots of fun, though, with good stories. I'm reading Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner right now...won the Pulitzer Prize in 1971. So many great books and I would love to read them all. I'm expecting new guests on Thursday; Michelle Versaw and her husband are stopping on their way to Las Vegas. I'll put on my tour guide hat and take them out on the rim and to a good spot for a sunset. Its quiet in the library today. Yesterday I had projects to keep me occupied most of the day...feast or famine!
