The latest news on the suicide is that the car is 600 feet down the canyon and will probably remain there until November. The victum obviously had the whole thing well-planned because there aren't many places along the rim where a car can go over without jumping a railing or stone wall. The ironic part of the story is that the rental company who leased the car to the wacko must pay for a helicopter crane to lift it out. Saves the park service some money. But you have to wonder what makes someone want to go out in such a dramatic way? I guess that's a rather silly thought since who knows how a mentally ill person thinks???? I saw a preview of the new Ken Burns film last evening, specifically the Grand Canyon segments and I'm really excited about watching the whole thing. They had a nice dinner for all the park employees with an awards ceremony and thanks-yous for special achievements. I'm riding in to Flagstaff with my neighbors after work for Chinese buffet and shopping at Safeway and Walmart. It will be nice to have company for the long ride rather than driving by myself.

Hey, might as well go out in style!
ReplyDeleteHi Dubs!
ReplyDeleteWe got your postcard the other day! Great to hear from you. I was just thinking of you last week wondering how your experience is going. Seems you are having a great time!! You'll have lots to share when you return. Make sure you take lots of pics and video. I am going to coordinate a project that will be joint venture between you and Jeffries Multimedia Productions. I envision a documentary featuring your experiences in the grand canyon. I'm sure I can get Jim on board. I will also reserve the Wade-Jeffries Omnimax theater~!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be following on from now on!!
