Well, I haven't written for a few days. Radical change with Dick and girls here. Our weekend at the North Rim was a mix of goods and bad. By Sunday morning Dick's back was out and he was in serious pain. That was the end of his hiking and sight seeing. Sara, Jess and I hiked the Transept Trail and visited the gift shops. We were kept amused by the wildlife. The Kaibab squirrels ran through the camp ground looking for snacks...we came back from our hike to find the bag of cherries torn open. Not sure if it was the squirrels or the ravens. I watched a raven pull Kleenex out of a box that was on our neighbor's picnic table. Before we left on Monday morning a grouse hen and her chicks walked through, probably scavenging too. We drove back to the South Rim and skipped the sightseeing because Dick was still suffering. The library was rather quiet today although I left a little early to get a private tour of Kolb Studio. Ranger Ron Brown took us through the private rooms and told us the history of the Kolb Brothers. The views from the porches that extend out over the rim are breathtaking. Tomorrow is my last story time. The neighbors are having a shooter and hors d' oeuvres get together tomorrow evening. Should be highly entertaining. Lots to think about...packing, saying good bye to new friends and the long ride home.
